I agree Kaaren. On balance a largely plant-based diet is the best available
option for health and the planet globally. Of course food and culture are
inextricably linked and clearly the EAT-Lancet report has not adequately
acknowledged the nuances and politics behind food choices in India.

There are actually a lot of small initiatives in India trying to get back
to traditional dietary diversity and encourage millet production- but like
a lot of these initiatives, it is supported by a small sliver of the middle
class.
