PHM-Exch> Refugees in the Sinai Desert, Egypt: Torture, Rape and Organ Thefts

Dear Friends,

 

I want to inform you of the plight of asylum seekers on their way to
Israel via the Sinai desert in Egypt, where they are subjected to rape
and torture. They reach Israel in desperate need of rehabilitation
(physical and mental) but do not have access to medical care aside of
emergency room and our volunteer open clinic

further abuse in Israel, and the authorities do next to nothing to
address their needs.

Recently CNN aired a new documentary exposing the horrific organ harvest
they are subjected to.

PHR Israel call for the Egyptian Government and the International
community to 

a)     act for the immediate closure of the torture camps in Sinai,
Egypt; 

b)     arrest the smugglers and their collaborators, 

c)     ensure the safety of the refugees, 

d)     stop shooting at those trying to cross the border between Egypt
and Israel

PHR Israel call for the Israeli authorities to 

e)     ensure no asylum seeker will be returned on the border to the
Sinai desert.

f)       offers all asylum seekers free access to health care and
welfare services once they reach Israel

PHR Israel call for the international community to ensure that Israel
stands to those demands, and to its obligations according to the
Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees
