This is to update everyone about some developments on the communications
front:

1. The 74th World Health Assembly (WHA) concluded last week. As always, we
had a vibrant young team of WHO Watchers. The Watching team consisted of
Aletha Wallace (Belgium), Nalianya Emma (Kenya), Luciani Martins Ricardi
(Brazil), Metheus Falcao (Brazil), Shriyuta Abhishek (India), Surbhi
Shrivastava (India/USA), John Mahama (Ghana), Prithivi Prakash
(India/Australia), Maarja-Liis Ferry (UK), Sarah Derdelinckx (Belgium),
Sarai Keestra (Netherland) and Jasper Thys (Belgium).

   - We read out 6 statements on the floor in collaboration with Medicus
Mundi International (MMI). There were 11 additional statements on
various topics that we circulated through social media, mainly Twitter, and
   other means.

All our statements, posters based on the statements and videos of the
watchers reading them are available on our website:
https://phmovement.org/wha74-watch-statements-and-agenda/

   - The watchers wrote two articles which were published in news portal
   Peoples Dispatch:

https://peoplesdispatch.org/2021/05/24/as-world-health-assembly-starts-solidarity-is-missing-from-the-agenda/

https://peoplesdispatch.org/2021/05/31/world-health-assembly-74-one-year-into-the-pandemic/

   - All this material is also available on our twitter handle @PHMglobal

   - Stifling of the Civil Society voice emerged as a major concern during
the WHA. CSOs are allowed fewer statements now; clubbing of agenda items
   creates additional troubles.

   - The next session of WHA will be held in late November to exclusively
   discuss the Pandemic Treaty.

2. We have uploaded on our website a Call for Endorsement for a letter in
Solidarity with the People of Palestine. Hani connected us to medical
students in the US who took the initiative and are circulating it asking US
health workers to endorse:
https://phmovement.org/requesting-endorsements-stand-in-solidarity-with-the-people-of-palestine/

3. PHM ESA and EQUINET are organising Regional People’s Health University (East
and Southern Africa) from 29 July to 12 November 2021. The theme is *Past,
Present and Future Struggles for Health Equity *and the last date to apply
is 25th June*. *We have created a page on our website for information:
https://phmovement.org/call-for-applications-online-course-on-health-equity-east-and-southern-africa/

4. The ongoing IPHU Barcelona has conducted some amazing sessions and links
to those videos are available on social media. We are trying to update on
PHMglobal twitter handle as much as possible.

Kindly provide your feedback and suggestions, if any.
