*PEOPLE’S HEALTH MOVEMENT – SRI LANKA*



The Monthly Meeting of the People’s Health Movement – Sri  Lanka (PHM – SL)
was held at the Nagarodaya Centre, Colombo 8 on 7th January 2020.

PHM – SL celebrates 20 years this year and the meeting was attended by
Deputy General of Health Services – Public Health, with her senior team to
discuss the Open Government Partnership Commitments of the Health Sector.  A
very productive interactive dialogues took place with the PHM – SL
representative member organizations numbering over 30 organizations.

Pioneer members of PHM – SL are now engaged as Advisors and the second
generation is taking up the leadership whilst the third generation is under
training.  It is noted that all three groups  had a very fruitful
discussion in spearheading the future activities of PHM – SL.

The main areas of discussion were as follows:-

(a)  Inclusion of “Right to Health” to the Sri Lankan Constitution.

(b)  Activities of Open Government Partnership

(c)   Formulating a Patients Right Charter

It was decided that representatives of the Member Organizations will have
discussions at their respective organizations on the above.

Meeting was then concluded.
