As the world marks the 70th anniversary of the Declaration of Human Rights,
the World Health Organization's Director-General, Dr. Tedros Adhanom
Ghebreyesus, and the O'Neill Institute's Faculty Director, Lawrence Gostin
published an article in *the Lancet *on the history and future of human
rights and health.

They, and a distinguished team of global health experts, show the progress
the world has made regarding health and human rights as well as warn that
"rising challenges are placing at risk hard-won gains for human rights in
global health."

The article reviews the specific milestones made in the past 70 years; as
well as issues of discriminatory and punitive policies in place that deny
human rights to marginalized populations.
