Dear Clau, can you please distribute this call on PHM X (from WHO Watch)?

Many thanks
d

The WHO Executive Board (EB) will review progress in relation to Viral
Hepatitis at its January 2014 meeting as Agenda item 10.5 (and presumably
it will be considered again in May 2014 at the WHA).

The background includes
WHA63.18<http://apps.who.int/iris/bitstream/10665/3092/1/A63_R18-en.pdf>from
2010 and WHO’s Framework
for Global Action on Viral
Hepatitis<http://www.who.int/csr/disease/hepatitis/GHP_framework.pdf>
.

The Secretariat’s report
(EB134/36<http://apps.who.int/gb/ebwha/pdf_files/EB134/B134_36-en.pdf>)
reviews the epidemiological situation, and identifies a number of
challenges: diagnosis, medical care, capacity building, access to
medicines, and ‘market shaping’. The report also comments on the responses
to these challenges.

PHM’s WHO Watch project will be at the EB and the WHA and we are presently
preparing comments to be shared with delegates before and during the
meetings. PHM is keen to hear from PHM activists and friends who are
familiar with the challenges presented by viral hepatitis. We are keen to
hear your comment on the Secretariat report and suggestions about how WHO
could be more effective in this area.

If you are involved in lobbying your country’s delegates about hepatitis
related issues we would be keen to hear your line of argument.

Please respond to: dc-watch at phmovement.org.

Warmest greetings

WHO Watch
