>From PHM Philippines:

The People’s Health Movement (PHM), in coordination with the Social
Medicine Unit of the College of Medicine of the University of the
Philippines Manila, invites to a Forum on *“The Global Political and
Economic Context of Health.”* This will be on *March 15, 2012, Thursday, *The
speaker is Mr. Antonio Tujan from the IBON Foundation who will speak on
the abovementioned topic. An open forum follows.

Thereafter, Dr. Edelina P. Dela Paz, Coordinator of the People’s Health
Movement in the Philippines, will convene the *PHM Assembly, *give a* *report
on the past activities of the PHM Philippines and discuss the forthcoming *3
rd People’s Health Assembly (PHA3)* to be held in Capetown, South Africa on
July 6-11, 2012. As the PHM country circle for the Philippines, we need
to strengthen our organizational structure by convening the committees
which will help prepare for our involvement in the PHA3. We need to define
more clearly who are the members of PHM Philippines and have them be
actively involved in these different committees. As a PHM member, please
think of the committee that you may want to join. The committees are the
following: Right to Health Committee, Education Committee, Membership and
Mobilizing Committee, Publications and Information Committee, Finance and
Resource Mobilization Committee.

A discussion of the PHM Philippines program of action will follow. We
encourage you to plan similar fora in your areas of work and invite more
people to be members of the PHM. This will be part of our forthcoming
activities and program of action.

*Edelina P. Dela Paz, MD*

Coordinator, PHM Philippines

Vice Chief, Social Medicine Unit
