People’s Health Movement (PHM) would like to invite you to attend a civil
society meeting with civil society organizations in Senegal and in the
region.



4th of February 2011

In line with the International People’s Health University (IPHU) in Senegal
taking place from the 31st January to 11th of February, PHM Global (
www.phmovement.org), would like to convene civil society representatives
interested in discussing a way forward to strengthen and support health
advocacy and activism in Senegal and in the region within the principles of
comprehensive primary health care and with a focus on social determinants of
health. The meeting will also discuss plans and preparations for the 3rd
People’s Health Assembly (PHA3) taking place in July 2012.



*Aims of the meeting: *

•           To show case PHM global and in the region as well as civil
society action within Senegal and also more broadly in Africa in order
better link people’s struggle for health on different levels;

•           To promote regional co-operation and solidarity within PHM.

•           To create opportunity to mobilise and strengthen activities in
the region towards PHA3.



*The suggested outline of the meeting would include:*

- Review of civil society advocacy and activism around health in Senegal,
and the region

-Presentation on PHM programmes and future plans which include PHA3, Global
Health Watch 3 (GHW3), Right to Health Campaign (RTHC) and the IPHU- a
vehicle for advocacy and activism towards Health for All

-Discussion on strengthening advocacy and activism and mobilisation for PHA3



*The desired outcomes of the meeting include:*



Key activities /           Plan of action for PHM in the region



Commitments towards a key action/theme in the region focusing on activities
to promote  comprehensive primary health care principles and approach
towards achieving health for all in Senegal and in the region (who, what,
timeframes, etc).

We strongly believe that our organizations can work together in a number of
meaningful ways to build a strong movement.
