Greetings PHM --
Some of you may be aware that the Fifth World Water Forum is planned
for next month, March 16-22 in Istanbul Turkey. The World Water Forum
itself is a privately-run consortium of businesses and international
financial institutions using the UN as a cover to promote water
privatization and other people-unfriendly policies. ( http://www.worldwaterforum5.org/)A
coalition of international groups, working together with two
distinct Turkish coalitions, is organizing a week of counter-events,
including panels, presentations, a press conference, and a march.
I am working with the planning committees to develop the
alternative events, and there is strong interest in presentations
about water and health. While there is of course no funding to bring
anyone to Istanbul, it will be an important moment for organizing; if
any PHM members are able to attend, with support from your
organizations, I would be very interested in arranging speaking
possibilities. We also have strong contacts to alternative media in
Turkey, and would arrange interviews with journalists for any PHM
members who can make it to Istanbul.
Anyone interested, please contact me and I will help make arrangements.
	Thanks much.
