While the scholarship scheme for the Global Health Workforce Alliance (GHWA)
Forum in Kampala, Uganda, in March 2008 is still being finalized, it appears
very likely that if you have an abstract approved you will have a better
chance, possibly a much better chance, of receiving GHWA financial support
than if you do not submit an abstract (and have it approved). Therefore, if
you will need financial support and might be able to submit an abstract, I
strongly encourage you to go ahead and submit an abstract. For details,
please see the call for papers at
http://www.who.int/entity/workforcealliance/forum/GHWA_Forum_Call_For_Papers/en/index.html(deadline
December 31). Also please register:
http://www.who.int/entity/workforcealliance/forum/GHWA_Forum_Registration/en/index.html(deadline
January 31, 2008).

The Health Workforce Advocacy Initiative is advocating for a strong NGO and
health worker presence at the Forum. In that context, please email me if
you would like to attend the Forum and will require financial support to do
so. Please email me your name, affiliation/position, and country, and
please do so as soon as possible. Please also let me know if you are
submitting an abstract. Knowing who among civil society would like to
attend the Forum will enhance our ability to advocate for funding through
GHWA for you and others health workers and civil society participants.

Please note that we can make no guarantees about GHWA funding -- depending
on demand, it is quite possible that the number of people who would require
funding will exceed the resources available through GHWA for financial
support. Therefore, if you have alternative possible funding sources, I
encourage you to pursue them.

As before, I encourage you to reach out to colleagues who might be
interested in attending the Forum.

Please take care to just email me (mailto:efriedman at phrusa.org), and do not
reply to the entire listserv.
