PHA-Exchange> Mr Bolton in the UN 3 weeks (3)

It is a little difficult to know where to start with this comment. So I will restrict myself to one simple observation and hope it is not too obvious.

The problems that Mr Burgess rightly identifies result directly from . . . . the policies and perspectives of generations of powerful people such as Ambassador Bolton. Bolton's positions are, admittedly, particularly raw and crude.

The UN is the way it is - deeply compromised and utterly ineffective - because it is controlled and run by THE Member State, aided and abetted by the poodle state of Tony Blair and by the G8 generally. This is not an unfortunate, unwanted state of affairs at least from the perspective of the US, UK and G8. It is deliberate policy of the powerful nations whose interest in the UN has never been the improvement of the living conditions of the world's people but the continued, unimpeded access to their resources and control of their affairs.

The veto power in the UN Security Council allows this lamentable state of affairs to continue.
