NEW WEBSITE! Next week Global Health Watch will be producing a new, improved website to coincide with the launch of Global Health Watch 2005-2006 on July 20. The site will feature the full GHW 2005-2006 report as well as Global Health Action 2005-2006 - the campaign agenda of the GHW, as well as a resources page and a media centre.

GLOBAL LAUNCHES. Thanks to a wide response from civil society groups all around the world, many different countries are involved in the promotion of the Global Health Watch 2005-2006. Below are listed the details of all the events and participating organisations in the launch of the report. For any information related to these launches, or queries as to how to launch the report in your country, please contact: ghw at medact.org
ON JULY 20
July 20 ECUADOR - Cuenca, hosted by CEAS and the People's Health Assembly 2. Launch at the Second People's Health Assembly, 6pm at the Central Bank. Speakers include David Sanders, Ron Labonte, Jaime Briehl, Cristina Laurell, Francisco Armada. Spanish translation of the report ready by July 20. July 20 UK - London, hosted by Medact, the Royal Society for the Arts and the Lancet. The launch is planned for 11.30am - 12.30 pm at the Royal Society for the Arts. Speakers are David McCoy, Charles Abugre, Gill Walt, Malcolm Segall. Places are still available for this event see RSA website http://www.rsa.org.uk for further details.
July 20 THE NETHERLANDS hosted by Wemos and WGNRR. Press release, website announcement and links to GHW and PHA2 websites. Planned Dutch translation of the advocacy document to be ready for the launch.
AFTER JULY 20
Europe
August 5 ITALY hosted by AIFO. The launch will be held at the annual AIFO summer camp on 5 August. AIFO is organising the Italian translation of the advocacy document to be ready for the launch.
September FRANCE - Paris, hosted by Medecins du Monde. Press releases and announcement on their website to publicise the Cuenca Assembly and the coming Global Health Watch report July 5 - 10. In September, Medecins du monde will launch a report on their "25 years of medical assistance to indigenous people", which will give feedback of the People's Health Assembly and present the GHW to a larger audience. French translation of the report ready by July 20.
October BELGRADE, SERBIA AND MONTENEGRO hosted by the Institute of Social Medicine of the University of Belgrade. Planned launch in October/November and then later in the year with 'Sharing for Action', a network of health professional organisations and associations in Eastern Europe.
Nov. 18-20 GERMANY hosted by Medico International. Discussion of the GHW at the global health conference in Berlin.

Date not set SPAIN hosted by Medecins du Monde.
Date not set SWEDEN hosted by Umeå University.
North America
Nov. 7 UNITED STATES hosted by the People's Health Movement US. To be held at the American Public Health Association Annual Meeting, New Orleans. A paper on the Global Health Watch has been accepted by the Spirit of 1848 Caucas of the APHA from 2:50 pm to 3:05 pm on Nov 7 at a session entitled: What counts as evidence and to whom? A progressive critique of evidence-based public health data.
Asia
July MALAYSIA hosted by Citizens Health Initiative / Third World Network. Planned national launch for the end of July or beginning of August.
August INDIA hosted by the People's Health Movement India. PHM India plans to translate the advocacy document into Hindi to be ready for launch in August.
August PAKISTAN hosted by PHM Pakistan.
Middle East
August EGYPT hosted by People's Health Movement Egypt. AHED (PHM Egypt) is organising an Arabic translation of the advocacy document and is looking into a translation of the whole document. Launch and translation of the report are planned for August.
IRAN hosted by PHM Iran. Report to be launched at a national conference, with a planned translation into Farsi.
Australasia
Date not set AUSTRALIA hosted by PHM Australia and the Public Health Association of Australia.
Africa
Date not set SOUTH AFRICA hosted by the Peoples Health Movement (SA) / Health Systems Trust.
