Dear Friends,

The Second People's Health Assembly is now just less than two months away. The Voices of the Earth are beckoning each of us. We are working very hard to make the Second Assembly a process that will encourage all people to participate actively.
We are working on programming, logistics, and pre-assembly events. At the same time, we are actively building on the efforts that have been made at a local level in different places in the world.

Without exception, all sessions in PHA2 will be planning follow-up actions, that will be ncluded in the final PHM strategic plan for the coming years.

We are calling on all member organizations and individuals to close rank the work the Movement will embark in.

Herebelow are the country contacts for the People's Health Movement. We very much encourage you to contact the following people in your country and your region so they can now compile lists of members; they will then convey these lists to the Seretariat. Just a short email will do. Send it today.

15 Ideas to get involved in the Second Assembly

In your country:
Organize an event in your own country/city. If you have an exciting one day event scheduled in the latter half of the week in which the Cuenca assembly is happening (i.e July 20 onwards) it may be even possible to webcast parts of the event to Cuenca or vice-versa. Send (email or post) photos and reports of your events to the secretariat.
a.. Send films and videos from your country, which are relevant to the themes of the Assembly.
b.. Send posters, T-shirts and exhibitions which are relevant to the themes of PHA2
c.. If you represent an indigenous community organize a public endorsement of the declaration of the indigenous peoples in Cuenca.
d.. Organize a large drive for people to endorse the People's Charter for Health
e.. The People's Charter for Health has reached its 42nd translation. Help the charter team reach the 80th translation.
f.. Mobilize local journalists to write about health issues keeping the Assembly or the Global Health Watch as a point of interest.
g.. Have a public launch of the Global Health Watch Report in your region.
h.. Raise funds for delegates and media persons from your region to attend the assembly in Cuenca.
i.. Contribute material towards the photo essay "From Savar to Cuenca" that will be part of the inaugural ceremony. For details turn to the web page.
j.. Make and send translations of the slogans: 'Health For All!' & 'The Voices of the Earth are Calling You'.
In Cuenca

a.. Bring handicrafts that are indigenous to your region.
b.. Bring photographs, graphic testimonies, publications, comics and books that are relevant to the themes of PHA2
c.. Bring white clothing to use during the ceremony of the indigenous peoples on 17 July 2005
d.. Bring your children if they are below the age of 12 to join the Global Children's Forum.
