Unacceptable euphemisms

Medact does fine work and has already produced valuable reports on the health situation in Iraq. In relation to promotion of its new report "Enduring effects of war - health in Iraq 2004", it uses euphemisms which are unworthy of the cause it is promoting.

The short announcement states "This report makes sombre reading and brings home the point how political unrest and societal instability can have devastating consequences on the health of the population."

Surely it should read:

"This report makes sombre reading and brings home the point how illegal military invasions, illegal military occupations following a decade of illegal UN embargo can have devastating consequences on the health of the population."

Thanks Alison
