 Dear Friends,
 Greetings from PHM Secretarit (Global)!

The PHM - WHO advocacy circle and the PHM Researh Circle have been very active, especially since the WHA May 2004 and hence the PHM presence and input ino two important and parallel events in Mexico City from 16th to 21st November is goint to be a strong one. The two events are:

1.. World Inter-Ministerial Summit on Health Research organized by WHO and hosted by the Mexican Government.
2.. Global Forum for Health Research - Forum 8, which will focus on global efforts to expand health research in neglected areas to support the achievements of the Millenium Development goals.
As of 10th October 2004, the PHM team will consist of Ravi (PHM Global Secretariat); David Sanders (Research Circle, South Africa); Dave McCoy (GHW / UK); Zafrullah Chowdhury (Bangladesh); Fran Baum (Australia); Arturo Quizhpe (Ecuador); Lanny Smith (USA); Jose Utrera (WEMOS, Netherlands); Armando de Negri Filha (Brazil); Nadine Gassman (Mexico) and Garance Upham (Switzerland). This is a strong team and includes five Steering Group members and 3 Circle coordinators.

Enclosed below is a summary of all the inputs / initiatives in Mexico City related to PHM. Details of two important sessions organized by PHM / Research Circle at the Inter-Ministerial Summit (17th November) and at Forum 8 in collaboration with COHRED on 19th November will be sent separately (communication II) followed by abstracts of 5-6 papers by PHM team members (communication III).

PHM participants are also now being invited to be plenary speakers or panelists and discussants at many other sessions organized by various groups at the Summit and at Forum 8. Some of these are indicated. A final programmes will be ciculated in the first week of November.

The Mexico Summit and GFHR Forum 8 will be a great opportunity to share with over 800 researchers and academics from all over the world and over 200 policy makers, the news about PHM, PHA 2, GHW, IHF 4 and to share the Charter and other PHM related developments. PHM will have a stall in the market place; a lunch time meeting about PHM; and various opportunities for informal dialogue.
