PHA-Exchange> Preparations for WHA mtg in Gva

Dear Ravi and friends

We took advantage of the presence of a few people in London to have an 
informal discussion about the WHA.
Present: Zafrullah. Arturo, Mike and Pam (Shireen was also there but
busy)
We agreed that as many people as possible should come to WHA. We think 
Ellen and Margaret Reeves can come. We hope that Qasem, Ekbal and Mira
can 
come. We hoped that David Legge could make a short presentation on 
economics and health (somewhat along the lines of the WB
presentation..but if we only have an hour  everything will need to be 
concise.
As I had written earlier we were concerned that the present possible 
composition of the group presenting was largely male and 'old 
guard'.  Zafrullah and I are both happy to be there and listen to
others.
.
We all felt that to reflect the important differences between the PHA
and WHO we should have more women. And in particular women from South
America and Africa.  There should also be a presentation about
Europe including the Russian Federation and other Republics in former 
Soviet Union if possible. 
We also think the students are very important as I had said earlier..

Given the difficulty of getting meeting rooms at a time when the
delegates might come we wondered about an international cheerful; 
social event..music, tapes, cds, live if we have the talent between us?
Where could this be?

Arturo and Zafrullah wee discussing the similarities of the economic, 
health  and health services in Ecuador and Bangladesh. It was suggested
that IPHC (Maria) should collect this information (?Mike to provide a 
template) in time for the WHA.
