From: romyquij@yahoo.com

There should be and immediate and clear condemnation of this blatant genocide being perpetrated in Gaza. PHM members, at this time, should be well aware of the issues regarding this problem and should be beyond ignorance. In the face of blatant injustice and oppression, ignorance is a crime.
Therefore references to a "cycle of violence" don't seem to be very
helpful. They "psychologize" the issue: exercising "restraint" would be a
step towards a solution. I feel that PHM should go beyond and provide
context instead. These are not two sovereign states picking a fight with
one another. On the one side, we have one of the most militarized
states in the world, one of the most modern armies of a state that is
inherently exclusive. On the other side we have a people without a
state, without an army, refugees living on a small stretch of land that
has been suffering under a blockade. I agree we have to weigh our words
but calling on both sides to show restraint seems a bit out of context
to me.
Palestinian I do appreciate the immediate response came out OF PHM through the statement. I do not see changes in the context or
impact of the war on the people of Gaza, except that it is more
destructive. What might be needed from
PHM is: First. the analytical part of PHM position on the impact of war
on Human rights including right to health .Second, the PHM site postin all

From: Dr MIRA SHIVA <mirashiva@gmail.com>
I wish we could do something about addressing the violence in the
mind which results in more & more armed violence unable to look at
non killing solutions . The need for Peace with Justice is emphasised. So
much needless killing & destruction . What it must be doing to the
hearts & minds of those who witness it besides physically to
their bodies , homes .so many children & women becoming victims.
Govt in India has also expressed its concern & asked for halting
this.

Mira
xxxxxx
