Following the tragic explosion of ammunition in a military camp in the<br>
city of Brazzaville  on March 4, 2012, which caused over 200 deaths<br>
and nearly 1,500 injured so far (official data from the Government),<br>
the, situation is quite tragic for hundreds of women and children<br>
burned by the explosions.<br>
<br>
Hospitals in the capital are overwhelmed, and drugs and the medical<br>
basic equipment lack with thousands of homeless (more than 5,000<br>
people) who sleep in churches and public places. Patients are<br>
sometimes on the floor and others share the bed at 3 or 4, a situation<br>
due to a weak national health system. Many children are missing and<br>
others are orphaned.<br>
<br>
This message is to inform you that we are currently organizing<br>
ourselves to contribute to the emergency assistance efforts to women<br>
and children victims of the deadly explosions this Sunday, especially<br>
with regard to access to health care and psychological support.<br>
<br>
Although the Government has appealed for international assistance, we<br>
are organizing to provide psychological and  health  care support to<br>
women and children burned and injured.<br>
<br>
In the coming days, we will inform you of the assessment made on site<br>
and our actions.<br>
