<br>Mulet highlighted the committed efforts of the Cuban Health professionals despite the prevailing conditions in the Caribbean nation, and added they were admirable.<br><br>He reaclled that the Cubans have been helping Haiti prior to the eartquake, and that their presence and solidarity have been going on for years. On his relation with the medical brigade he said that the UN mission maintains cordial relations with the doctors who, he stressed, are self-sufficient and do their work. <br>
<br>At the time of the quake some 400 Cubans were working in the health sector in Haiti, rising to nearly 1 500 at this moment, including Haitians that were studying Medicine in Cuba. <br><br>The contingent also includes professionals from 22 Latin America and the Caribbean nations and seven U.S. graduates in the Latin American Medical School in Cuba. <br>
<br>Mulet assumed command of MINUSTAH to replace the Tunisian Hedi Annabi, who died during the earthquake along with his deputy, Luiz Carlos da Costa, and Commissioner of UN police in Haiti, the Canadian Doug Coates, concluded Prensa Latina.</font></strong> <br>
