<p style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 6pt"><font face="Times New Roman" size="3">We are pleased to invite you to participate in the <b>Global Conference on Meeting Nutritional Challenges with Sustainability and Equity</b> being held at New Delhi on 2^nd<span> </span>and 3^rd August.The Conference will focus particularly on child malnutrition.</font> 
<p style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 6pt"><font face="Times New Roman" size="3">As you are aware, food crisis is deepening globally and women and children are its worst victims. According to WHO (2000), malnutrition is the underlying cause of death of 50% of deaths of children. According to NFHS 3, almost 50% of Indian children are malnourished. </font>
<p style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 6pt"><font face="Times New Roman" size="3">Hunger, malnutrition and poverty are intimately linked. According to the Saxena Report (2009), more than half the population should be counted in the BPL category. Policies related to natural resources and agriculture, as well as new technologies impact the livelihood options of the vast majority of Indians. </font>
<p style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 6pt"><font face="Times New Roman" size="3">There is a trend to seek solutions to hunger and malnutrition in the market. The corporate sector is increasingly being invited to participate in policy making and delivery systems through Public Private Partnerships.</font> 
<p style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 6pt"><font face="Times New Roman" size="3">The Government of India is currently developing the draft for a Food Security Act as part of its election promise to the country. The two day Conference will examine these issues and develop a People’s Charter (Framework for Food and Nutrition Security) as well as lay out the principles and criteria that every PPP must meet, especially in the context of health and nutrition.</font> 
<p style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 6pt"><font face="Times New Roman" size="3">The Conference is being jointly organized by International Baby Food Action Network (IBFAN) Asia , Navdanya, Initiatives for Health Equity in Society, Breastfeeding Promotion Network of India, and Diverse Women for Diversity. Other partners include Child In Need Institute (CINI), International Commission on the Future of Food, Baby Milk Action Network and Centre for Food Safety..</font>
