<p><font face="Calibri" size="3">Applications are invited from nationals of a country in the Asia Pacific region for the post of Co-ordinator - Designate, Health Action International Asia – Pacific, (HAIAP), Colombo, Sri Lanka.</font></p>

<p><font face="Calibri" size="3">The major responsibility of the Co-ordiantor - Designate will be to assist Dr K Balasubramaniam the Advisor and Co-ordinator in the following:</font></p>
<p><font face="Calibri" size="3"><b><i>Project Management</i></b></font></p>
<ul type="DISC">
<li><font face="Calibri" size="3">Plan, implement and monitor project activities as described in the project proposal;</font> 
<li><font face="Calibri" size="3">Adapt the proposed budget to a working budget once funding has been secured;</font> 
<li><font face="Calibri" size="3">Ensure that project funds are used exclusively for the purpose of the project as described in the project proposal;</font> 
<li><font face="Calibri" size="3">Prepare periodic funding reports and ensure the timely reporting to donors;</font> 
<li><font face="Calibri" size="3">Authorize payments relating to the project;</font> </li></li></li></li></li></ul>
<p><font face="Calibri" size="3"><b><i>Project Development</i></b></font></p>
<ul type="DISC">
<li><font face="Calibri" size="3">Prepare global project proposals in collaboration with other HAI regional Co-ordinators;</font> 
<li><font face="Calibri" size="3">Prepare regional project proposals and submit to potential funding agencies for co-financing;</font> 
<li><font face="Calibri" size="3">Keep abreast of new issues and areas of concern and incorporate into programme area;</font> </li></li></li></ul>
<p><font face="Calibri" size="3"><b><i>Network Development and Capacity Building</i></b></font></p>
<ul type="DISC">
<li><font face="Calibri" size="3">Identify major areas of concern in the area of health and pharmaceuticals, and develop focus and direction of the network ;</font> 
<li><font face="Calibri" size="3">Maintain regular communication and contact with members;</font> 
<li><font face="Calibri" size="3">Keep track of members not involved in the network and develop plans to systematically involve them actively in the network;</font> 
<li><font face="Calibri" size="3">Organize meetings, seminars, conferences and the other training activities</font> 
<li><font face="Calibri" size="3">Attend HAI International Steering Group meetings;</font> 
<li><font face="Calibri" size="3">Attend HAI Regional Co-ordinators meetings,</font> 
<li><font face="Calibri" size="3">Formulate, develop and implement international campaigns</font> </li></li></li></li></li></li></li></ul> <br>
<p><font face="Calibri" size="3"><b><i>Office Management</i></b></font></p>
<ul type="DISC">
<li><font face="Calibri" size="3">Recruit and supervise project staff  with due consideration to the level of funding obtained;</font> 
<li><font face="Calibri" size="3">Authorize payments for office expenditure;</font> 
<li><font face="Calibri" size="3">Ensure the upkeep of office procedures;</font> </li></li></li></ul> <br>
<p><font face="Calibri" size="3"><b><i>Advocacy</i></b></font></p>
<ul type="DISC">
<li><font face="Calibri" size="3">Attend and speak at meetings as required and lobby decision-makers;</font> 
<li><font face="Calibri" size="3">Develop and oversee HAI-Asia Pacific’s representation at national, regional and international fora;</font> </li></li></ul> <br> <br>
<p><font face="Calibri" size="3"><b><u>Advisory</u></b></font></p>
<ul type="DISC">
<li><font face="Calibri" size="3">Undertake desk and field research on issues of importance to the Asia-Pacific region and the network;</font> 
<li><font face="Calibri" size="3">Formulate policies for HAI Asia-Pacific and HAI International;</font> 
<li><font face="Calibri" size="3">Represent HAI AP at national, regional and international fora;</font> 
<li><font face="Calibri" size="3">Assist, advice and support members in developing their policy / campaigning capacity on health and pharmaceutical issues;</font> 
<li><font face="Calibri" size="3">Provide advisory services on request to other institutions, based on research carried out.</font> </li></li></li></li></li></ul> <br>
<p><font face="Calibri" size="3"><b><i>The following is the minimum Qualification</i></b></font></p>
<ul type="DISC">
<li><font face="Calibri" size="3">Degree in one of the health sciences or social sciences preferably with postgraduate degree from an accredited institution</font> </li></ul>
<p><font face="Calibri" size="3"><i><u>Desirable additional qualifications</u></i></font></p>
<ul type="DISC">
<li><font face="Calibri" size="3">Work experience/specialized studies/ training in medicines policies, access to medicines, rational use of medicine and pharmaceuticals services for a period of 10 years.</font> 
<li><font face="Calibri" size="3">Previous NGO experience</font> 
<li><font face="Calibri" size="3">Excellent understanding of the socio-economic conditions in the Asia Pacific</font> 
<li><font face="Calibri" size="3">Good understanding of the specific health needs of marginalized, vulnerable and the poor</font> 
<li><font face="Calibri" size="3">Good presentation skills</font> 
<li><font face="Calibri" size="3">IT skills. Demonstrated ability to use a computer and utilize software programme such as Microsoft office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook</font> </li></li></li></li></li></li></ul>

<p><font face="Calibri" size="3">Salary will negotiable.</font></p>
<p><font face="Calibri" size="3">The successful candidate will be given a contract for two years, and, on satisfactory performance will be promoted as Regional Co-ordinator of HAIAP to take over from Dr K Balasubramaniam the present Advisor and Co-ordinator.    A work permit will be obtained for expatriate staff.</font></p>
