speech Prof Udai Jain, Ex Vice Chancellor, <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName

Pradesh Vigyan Sabha gave brief introduction of JSA and its important programs
done earlier. He also emphasized importance of GHW report at this

size=2><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial">Dr Thelma Narayan, Jan Swasthya Abhiyan,
Community Health Cell, Banglore gave brief overview of Global Health Watch
Report 2 to the audience. She informed about various sections of GHW report 2
and its importance. She gave detail account of development paradigm and need for
alternative development paradigm.</SPAN><SPAN
style="FONT-SIZE: 16pt; FONT-FAMILY: Arial"> </SPAN><SPAN
style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial">There are many factors affecting health like terror,
war, globalization, urbanisation, sanitation, water crisis and education.
Important health care sector are also given in report like health system
advocacy, mental health, health for migrants, asylum seekers, medicine etc. Very
important issues like global health governance, various aid agencies etc are
also influencing health program. She provided very good narration of
report.<o:p></o:p></SPAN></FONT></P>

provided information on Millennium Development Goals for <st1:place

and MP also. Its targets, role of UNDP. He had linked these goals very
effectively with issues in <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place
w:st="on">India</st1:place></st1:country-region> and MP also specially man power
requirement, role of voluntary sector, planning process and quality of care. He
ended his presentation with very good note “<SPAN

Community Medicine Department, GMC presented various social determinants of
health and their relevance to health. He presented his note from very important

style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial">Poorer people live shorter lives and are more often
ill than the rich. This disparity has drawn attention to the remarkable
sensitivity of health to the social

Health Watch report conducted in 20 districts of MP. It is done by voluntary
organizations member of JSA in MP. 20 districts are covered under the study. It
covered CHC, PHC, Sub Health Centre, interview of health provider and exit
interview of patients. In his report he gave detail account of infrastructure,
man power, drugs availability and community involvement for ASHA or VHSC
functioning. </FONT></SPAN></P>

style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial"><FONT size=2></FONT></SPAN> </P>

style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial"><FONT size=2>After presentations discussion took
place in which many participants contributed. Dr Deo emphasized to look on
positive side of government programs. In MpP also many initiatives are done for
improving health condition he informed. Ms Biraj of DFID also appreciated the
efforts done by JSA and informed that they are evaluating Rogi Kalyan Samiti for
its effectiveness and role. Dr Neel Kamal Kapoor, Prof and Head Pathology
department, Dr Sunil Nandeshwar, Associat professor, Community Medicine
department, Mr Tej Ram, UNFPA, Dr Vikram Gupta, Sir Ratan Tata Trust, Dr Arvind
Singh Chauhan and Dr Anita from Sociology department, Barkatullah University
with many medical collage Post graduate and under graduate students have
participated in large number. Electronic and print media coverage is also very
good.</FONT></SPAN></P></LI><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial">
