Jaipur, Rajasthan, India.  March 15-21,  2008 Applications are invited from health activists working in South Asian countries (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka) wishing to participate in the "Equity and Health Rights" training program for health activists at Jaipur from 15 to 21 March 2008.

PLEASE FORWARD THIS ANNOUNCEMENT TO YOUR NETWORKS URGENTLY The Jaipur training program is planned for young activists and professional working on the issues of health, gender, human rights and particularly for those involved in the activities of People's Health Movement. This training program is aimed at enabling participants to be more effective as a health activists. Participants will critically analyse concerned concepts, policies, research agendas and various program interventions using a rights based approach.

Young activists and professionals working on the issues of health, gender and inter related issues with rights based approach in community and/or in policy. Priority shall be accorded to practitioners of public health and primary health care and people with a track record as health activists within the people's health movement.

<br><br>Applicants should preferably have a university degree and reasonable skills in oral and written English.  Applicants must endorse the broad principles and directions of the People's Charter for Health (at <a href="http://www.phmovement.org/node/10">

The methodology The methodology of the training program will be participatory, which will include formal lectures, presentations, panel discussions, individual exercises and sharing, group discussions, case studies, debates, film screening, role plays, practice sessions and follow up study.

Pre-reading and small exercises will be provided in advance so that participants can familiarise themselves with the material to be covered.  Resource materials will take the form of hard copy readings, lecture notes and websites.

Course costs and scholarships Enrolment and tuition fee: $US 150 (Indian Rupees 6000). Accommodation and meals: $US 150 (Indian Rupees 6000). Some full and partial scholarships covering travel and/or accommodation, meals and tuition may be available.
