Summer School on “<U>Inequality, Growth and Human Development”</U> organized by
Unicredit Foundation, the University of Florence and the European

training to some <U>20</U> young academics, PhD students or middle level
practitioners from developing and advanced countries with specific academic
training, experience and interest in topic of the summer school. The Summer
School is <U>fully financed</U> and will be held in Civita Castellana (about an
hour from <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Rome</st1:place></st1:City>)
between <U>1 and 6 July 2006</U>. On-line and paper applications (see below)
should be submitted by <U>15 April</U>, and those accepted will be notified by
<U>11 May 2007</U>. <o:p></o:p></SPAN></FONT></P>

2007 the second Summer School on Development. The activities of the School are
guided by an Advisory Board that comprises Professor Giovanni Andrea Cornia
(University of Florence), Professor Patrick Guillaumont (CERDI, University of
Clermont Ferrand), Dr. Thandika Mkandawire (UNRISD, Geneva), Professor Jean
Philippe Platteau (University of Namur and President of the European Development
Network, EUDN), and Professor Frances Stewart (University of Oxford). The Summer
School is carried out in the context of the training activities sponsored by

training programmes, conferences and development education

an European network of economists aiming at strengthening the links between

Conference, an annual two-day Scientific Meeting, ad hoc international

an opportunity to gain exposure to state of the art training to a select group
of 20 young women and men with specific research/policy experience and interest
in the field of income and wealth distribution and other aspects of inequality.
The Summer School on Development lasts five days and will be held in English. No
tuition fee is levied on the students selected, and all travel and lodging costs
are covered by Unidea – UniCredit Foundation.<o:p></o:p></SPAN></FONT></P>

in Development Economics, Development Studies, Economics, Public Economics,
Public Policy and related fields and to post-doc students, young academics, and
middle level practitioners from developing countries, transition economies and
advanced countries with an adequate academic background and an interest in the
topic of the Summer School. The typical student admitted to the Summer School
will be engaged in an academic job (teaching or research) or have been part for
at least two years of a national or international institution or NGOs doing
research or policy oriented work on inequality issues or on programme aimed at
alleviating its effects. These are basic guidelines, and all applications will
be considered on their own merits.<o:p></o:p></SPAN></FONT></P>
