<P>STATEMENT <BR><BR>The Regional Committee for the Promotion of Community
Health because <BR>of the actual scaling up of military violence of the State of
Israel <BR>against the people of Lebanon and Palestine <BR><BR>DECLARES:<BR>•
Our profound concern for the life and security of the <BR>civilian population
involved in this conflict.<BR>• Our solidarity with the families of victims of
this <BR>conflict and of those who have been forced to leave their places of
<BR>residence for reasons of insecurity.<BR>• Our total rejection of a military
solution to this <BR>conflict. <BR><BR>DEMANDS OF THE PARTS IN CONFLICT:<BR>•
Total respect for the fundamental rights of the civil <BR>population involved in
this conflict; especially in the south of <BR>Lebanon and Palestine.<BR>•
Immediate cessation of all military acts that are causing <BR>the death and
destruction of the civilian population<BR>• A search for mechanisms to solve
this conflict that are <BR>based on actions that do not include military
solutions. <BR><BR>WE DEMAND THAT THE GOVERNMENTS AND THE INTERNATIONAL
COMMUNITY: <BR>• Become involved immediately in actions of solidarity and
<BR>provision of humanitarian aid to the affected population. <BR>• Make the
necessary diplomatic efforts to promote the <BR>conclusion of the use of
military forces.<BR>• The Government of the United States of America cease
<BR>immediately its military support to the State of Israel. <BR>• That the
United Nations act with belligerence based on the <BR>humanitarian principles
that gave origin to the organization and to <BR>make specific agreements in
favor of peace in the Middle East in <BR>general and particularly in this
