<DIV>This is to inform you that Mathura P Shrestha has been abducted by police
from his home today 19 Jan 06 at around 6 AM. About 12-15 armed policemen broke
into his house today and said he'd be taken to the ward police office,
maharajgunj chakrapath. The police did not have warrant at the time of arrest
but showed an ID on request. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>The reason for arrest is still unknown but this clearly got to do with the
mass protest rally to be conducted at 20 Jan. All the phone lines here are dead,
including mobile phones, which indicates that several other activists and
political party personnel may have been arrested too. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>This is clearly an act of cowardice by the current king and his government
and I urge all the freedom loving persons to stand against such act against a
human right activist.</DIV>
