Dear Colleagues,


Please find below (and our website<https://wordpress.us17.list-manage.com/track/click?u=b0d75e3385e4b6ce7bfd3e503&id=b814a348ca&e=26f06ee295>) The Civic House Statement, which we would ask you to sign and circulate amongst your networks. The statement comes from the assembly coordinated by PHM Scotland and held at Civic House in Glasgow on 10th June 2023<https://wordpress.us17.list-manage.com/track/click?u=b0d75e3385e4b6ce7bfd3e503&id=b06e3f3097&e=26f06ee295>. Since that time a range of partners have worked together to synthesise the issues raised on the day and produce this concise proposal. Our plan is to use it as part of a wider attempt to build both solidarity and concerted action across civil society in Scotland to create a viable alternative to 'business as usual' political inactivity and backsliding that has become the norm of UK and Scottish politics.

We are sure that there is no need to restate the unprecedented urgency for transformative action across so much of political and social life in Scotland. However, our past experiences of crises, whether humanitarian or environmental, have been that very little has changed for the better. In the words of Angela Davis, "We are no longer willing to accept the things we cannot change. We are determined to change the things we cannot accept." Please join with us on this crucial journey of activism and solidarity. It begins with a signature. Where it ends depends on our shared resolve and our shared vision.
