I just wish to share with you if not done already that the state government
of Rajasthan in India has legislated the *Right to Health Act *on 5th April
2023. The Act guarantees complete free treatment - consultation, medicines,
investigations, devices, transport for all ailments to patients of
Rajasthan state. It is for the first time any state in India has passed
such an act. I am not aware if any country or its region has such an act..

I also wish to share that the state chapter of Jan Swasthya Abhiyan has
been campaigning for it for a long time and got it included in the
political manifesto of the current ruling party in the state and then made
initial drafts of the act..The Government of Rajasthan had to encounter
fierce opposition from the strong union of private sector doctors when the
act was to be passed. A copy of the act is attached. The English version of
the act begins from page 14 of the act.

.Your comments are most welcome as we are in the process of drafting rules.
As per the procedure the act becomes enforceable only after rules are
framed and notified.
