Dear all,



People's Health Movement (PHM) is happy to announce the launch of the sixth
edition of its flagship publication Global Health Watch (GHW6). As a
definitive report for an alternative discourse on health, GHW has created a
strong place for itself among health activists, civil society and
university systems.



We have entered the third consecutive year of the worst pandemic in a
century. The misery and devastation caused in the last two years has
rattled most of us, although the virus is not solely to blame. Drug
companies’ greed, health system privatization, weakened global governance,
war and conflict, and the inadequacy of public health systems – all
contributed to people’s suffering. GHW6 examines these issues through a
political-economic lens, showing connections between the social, economic,
political, commercial and environmental determinants of health and the
structure of global power relations. The narratives of resistance and
social movement activism are spread throughout the book and set it apart
from other writing in this field.

The book has been co-produced by PHM, Medact, Third World Network, Health
Poverty Action, Medico International, ALAMES, Viva Salud and Sama.



Together with medicusmundi and Médicos del Mundo, we cordially invite you

El Movimiento para la Salud de los Pueblos (MSP) se complace en anunciarles
el lanzamiento de la sexta edición de su publicación Global Health Watch
(GHW6). Como informe definitivo para un discurso alternativo sobre la
salud, GHW se ha convertido en un referente para activistas de la salud, la
sociedad civil y los sistemas universitarios.



Hemos entrado en el tercer año de la peor pandemia en un siglo. La miseria
y la devastación causadas en los dos últimos años nos han sacudido a la
mayoría, aunque el virus no es el único culpable. La avaricia de las
empresas farmacéuticas, la privatización de los sistemas sanitarios, el
debilitamiento de la gobernanza mundial, la guerra y los conflictos, y las
carencias de los sistemas de salud pública han contribuido al sufrimiento
de la población. GHW6 examina estas cuestiones a través de una lente
político-económica, mostrando las conexiones entre los determinantes
sociales, económicos, políticos, comerciales y medioambientales de la salud
y la estructura de las relaciones de poder globales. Las narrativas de
resistencia y activismo de los movimientos sociales se extienden por todo

Le Mouvement Populaire pour la Santé (People's Health Movement, PHM) est

discours alternatif sur la santé, GHW s'est créé une place de choix parmi
les activistes de la santé, la société civile et les systèmes

Nous sommes entré(e)s dans la troisième année consécutive de la pire
pandémie depuis un siècle. La misère et la dévastation des deux dernières
années ont ébranlé la plupart d'entre nous, même si le virus n'est pas le
seul responsable. La cupidité des compagnies pharmaceutiques, la
