I would like to take the opportunity to introduce the campaign "Only
Fighters Win" that Viva Salud launched last week.

The COVID-19 pandemic confronts our societies with multiple challenges.
Health systems are failing to ensure the right to health of people and
social inequities are deepening at a worrying pace. By lack of investment
in strong public health systems and in an unwillingness to protect the most
vulnerable, some governments have resorted to drastic measures that
jeopardise human rights and democracy. They are also using the corona
crisis to step up the repression against social movements and human rights
activists. However, now more than ever, we need powerful social movements
to fight for the right to health of all, stronger public health systems and
a socially just post-COVID era. That is why, to support social movements
all over the world, Viva Salud launched the Only Fighters Win campaign.*
The heroes of the health care sector are not alone. They have the support
of activists, trade unionists and human rights defenders that fight for our
rights, they are all heroes for health.*

Tomorrow, on Wednesday October 7, Viva Salud invites Cristina Palabay,
secretary-general of the Philippino organisation Karapatan, and Hanan W.
Husein, acting director of the Palestinian organisation Bisan Center for
Research and Development, to discuss the *human rights violations that are
taking place in their countries under the pretext of COVID-19 restrictions*.
