Dear Friends

Jan Swasthya Abhiyan (PHM-India) was part of a larger civil society
mobilisation known as the People's Parliament
<https://jantaparliament.wordpress.com/> coordinated by Jan Sarokar. The
People's parliament was aimed at discussing urgent Covid related policy
issues and proposing solutions to be undertaken by the elected
representatives and the Indian government. Health Session of this People's
Parliament was held on the 16th of August from 3-7 p.m IST.

The four hour session was inaugrated by KK Sailaja (Minister of Health)
State of kerala, attended and included speakers from Jan Swasthya Abhiyan,
patients groups of HIV and TB, families of victims of denial of healthcare,
sex workers network, disablilty rights platform among many other
progressive groups.

We were also joined by Members of Parliament  Ravi Prakash Verma, Vandana
Chavan and Rajeev Gowda ( Ex-MP) from the states of  Uttar Pradesh,
Maharashtra and Karnataka who promised to take up the demands of the health
activists at the Parliament.

The health session ended with the gathering proposing and voting in favour
of a 18 point charter to the government of India and a demand for 'Right to
Healthcare for All'.
