*PEOPLES’ HEALTH  MOVEMENT – SRI LANKA (PHM – SL)*

*REPORT ON MONTHLY MEETING HELD ON 22ND AUGUST 2019*



The PHM – SL Monthly Meeting for the month of August  2019 was held at the
Community Education Centre, Malabe.  The objectives of this Meeting were as
follows:-

(1)   To commemorate Ms. Nanda Udawatta, a prominent Member of PHM – SL.



(2)   To discuss future activities to be carried out with regard to the
Motion on ”Right to Health” due to be taken up in the Sri Lanka Parliament
by Hon. Member of Parliament, Mr Nanayakkara.

*Ms. Nanda Udawatta*

Many appreciated comments about Ms Nanda Udawatta’s work on organic farming
and preparation of indigenous food items prepared by her in the villages.  A
Recipe Book written by her was formally launched. It’s a great loss to PHM
– SL, because the activities carried out by her were immense and the role
played by her cannot be replaced easily.

*Motion on “Right to Health”*

Following activities are to be carried out:

a)     To address a letter to all Presidential candidates to include “Right
to Health” in their Election Manifesto

b)     To write a letter to all Members of Parliament requesting them to
support this Motion when taken up in Parliament.

c)     To address a letter to all Secretaries of Political Parties
requesting them to support this Motion.

d)     To write letters to all Chairpersons and Local Government Members
requesting their support.

e)     To write letters to Civil Society Organizations asking their support
for this Motion.

f)      To organize a Signature campaign in all main towns.
