PHM-Exch> World Congress of Bioethics, Bangalore, India - Early bird registration & Bursary Application deadline extended!!

Warm greetings from the World Congress of Bioethics Secretariat!

The joint 14th World Congress of Bioethics of the International 
Association of Bioethics and 7th National Bioethics Conference of the 
Indian Journal of Medical Ethics would be hosted by Forum for Medical 
Ethics Society, Sama Resource Group for Women and Health, St. John's 
National Academy of health sciences and Society for Community Health 
Awareness, Research and Action (SOCHARA) and will be held for the first 
time in India between 5th and 7th December 2018. It will be held at St. 
John's National Academy of Health Sciences in Bangalore.

The Congress has also received tremendous response with more than 500 
high quality abstracts received from the global community. More than 500 
abstracts have been received. The present Congress promises to be an 
extremely enriching experience with 9 pre-Congress workshops, 158 oral 
presentations, 51 embedded symposia, 111 posters and 74 participants in 
rapid round sessions. The presenters are from more than 52 countries, 
both LMIC as well as developed countries. There are early career 
researchers, PhD scholars, established academicians, civil society 
organizations working with marginalized communities, groups working with 
disabled communities and so on very much in tune with the theme of the 
Congress- 'Health for All in an Unequal World: Obligations of Global 
Bioethics'. Additionally, the 12^th  Congress of the Feminist Approaches 
to Bioethics (FAB) network (www.fabnet.org <http://www.fabnet.org/>) is 
also being held on 3^rd  and 4^th  December preceding the WCB.

As the theme of the Congress is also about Health for All and about 
inequalities, the attempt is to not restrict Bioethics to Academia but 
to widen the purview to include various marginalized groups and 
grassroots workers from across the world who are part of the movement. 
There are avenues like the parallel arts festival,  document crew 
meet-up; interaction with Indian writers of medical fiction; expressions 
of creativity through various art forms like dance around the congress 
theme, traditional drums which are part of the culture of the 
marginalized; curation of exhibition of paintings around the congress 
theme, 'public voices' segment where people from the margins are given 
space for speaking and so on.  It is with this objective in mind we are 
encouraging people from all spheres and not just academia to participate
