Subject:  7 April activity: what is happening in your region? OUR HEALTH IS
NOT FOR SALE!

I am happy to inform you that PHM Philippines will be participating in our
PHM global activities related to the World Health Day on April 7, 2018.
However, we will be holding it on April 5, Thursday.  We shall hold a
picket rally in front of the WHO WPRO office on UN Ave, Ermita, Manila.  We
will assemble in front of the WHO office at 9:30 am and will hold a program
for an hour where we will raise the issue of UHC (this year's theme), as
promoted by WHO and criticize UHC as not truly responding to the people's
needs for health because it focuses mainly on insurance coverage as the
financing mechanism for health.  We will also raise the issue of the
government's neglect of public health facilities, the deterioration of
public health systems and the continuing disregard for the people's right
to health.  Because the recent Dengvaxia fiasco is still very fresh in the
minds of the people, some mothers whose children have been immunized with
Dengvaxia will share their anxieties, fears and mistrust in the government
for colluding with the multinational pharma companies, especially Sanofi,
at the expense of their children's health.

The activity is sponsored mainly by PHM Philippines with Health Alliance
for Democracy (HEAD), The Coalition for the People's Right to Health , the
Council for Health and Development and the Community Medicine Development
Foundation.


Wishing us all a successful People's Health Day activity in our respective
countries.
