This course focuses on health through a political viewpoint, discussing
global health governance, leadership and health policy formation and
implementation.

As health becomes increasingly political in nature and policy processes
move beyond the simply rational and technical approaches, modern leaders in
health must become reflective multi-sectoral practitioners. They must be
able to negotiate the present vortex that is known as global health
governance, while ensuring that messages and policies continue to address
the political and systematic barriers to universal health care. Health
leaders need new skills to negotiate global partnerships, resolutions and
health promises and pledges. Because of recently emerged new actors they
also need to establish and maintain relations with a widening range of
stakeholders.
Who is this course for?

The course is aimed at international health leaders, advocates, consultants
engaged in international health planning and management, NGO advocates,
health experts and advisers covering health in developing countries. You
must have a good working knowledge of English and experience or interest in
international health development.

*2. Nutrition in Emergencies - June 30th - July 4th 2014*

Are you interested in learning how to deliver nutritional support services
to people affected by humanitarian disasters? This intensive five-day
training course gives an overview of current best practice in nutrition in
emergencies. It will provide you with the knowledge and skills to improve
your practice and help you prepare for the complexity and the reality of
working in an emergency context. It is particularly suitable for people who
wish to consolidate their knowledge and experience and who are keen to
learn from and with others. The course is led by lecturers with extensive
experience working with NGOs in emergency situations.
Who is this course for?

The course is aimed at staff of UN agencies, NGOs and national ministries
of health in countries that are regularly affected by emergencies. Health
workers, nutritionists, doctors, nurses as well as programme managers are
encouraged to apply. You do not need any formal academic qualifications for
entry as we value experience. You will be taught by practitioners from a
wide range of backgrounds including international NGOs, teaching and
research institutes, all of whom have substantial expertise within the
sector.
