We would like to inform you, that the 2012 edition of *The State of Food
Insecurity in the World 2012* (SOFI 2012) was just released. ****

This year’s report presents new estimates of undernourishment based on a
revised and improved methodology, showing that, even though figures remain
unacceptably high, progress during the past 20 years has been better than
previously believed; it also discusses the role of economic growth in
reducing undernourishment and how social protection can help in reaching
the poorest, building human capital and helping farmers in managing risk. **
