PHM-Exch> Fwd: A Call to Enhance the Watchdog Role of Civil Society

Dear colleagues,****

I work for Aidspan (a watchdog organisation) and I just participated in my
first IPHU and now my first PHA. And I am inspired and humbled by your
work! ****

With the spirit nurtured in me I feel compelled to advocate for two things:*

**1.      **A stronger focus on mutual accountability (where we don’t only
point fingers but start with ourselves) and ****

**2.      **A revival of the watchdog role of CSOs. ****

As part of this, I wish to document how local organisations and individuals
in authoritarian and conflict countries can strengthen their watchdog role
- monitoring, critiquing and questioning health systems. It's a
particularly difficult role to maintain even in stable and democratic
countries. *Could you please share your experiences and your
recommendations on what can be done to strengthen “watchdogging” for health?
