Dear all on phm-exchange

Greetings. I have just joined and would like to introduce myself.

I'm based in the UK and am interested in the potential of global
interdsiciplinary networking to help address complex health
challenges. I'm especially interested in finding ways to address the
information and learning needs of healthcare providers in low and
middle income countries. These (and other) needs must be addressed to
empower health workers to realise progressively the right to
evidence-based health care for all.

I run a global email discussion forum called Healthcare Information
For All by 2015. It's a group of 3500 professionals from 2000
organisations in 158 countries, ranging from staff at WHO
headquarters to rural community health workers in Uganda. Our common
goal is to to eradicate the daily toll of death and suffering that
result from lack of availability to basic healthcare knowledge in
low-income countries. We communicate on three forums, the main one
being called HIFA2015 (the other two are CHILD2015 - child health -
and HIFA-Portuguese for Portuguese-speaking countries, in
collaboration with WHO). We recently launched a new forum on the
information needs of health policymakers in francophone African
countries, in collaboration with EVIPNet at WHO (Evidence for
Informed Policy Making).

To join, and to find out more, see: www.hifa2015.org

I look forward to discussions on (and cross-pollination with) phm-exchange.

Best wishes,
Neil
