How can we increase access to health workers in remote areas? Dr. Carmen
Dolea has been thinking about this challenge for a while.

The latest edition of CapacityPlus <http://www.capacityplus.org/> Voices,
Partnering to keep health workers in the communities that need them <
http://www.capacityplus.org/sites/intrah.civicactions.net/files/resources/Voices_2_WHO.pdf>
, features Dr. Dolea of the World Health Organization. She talks about the
WHO's global policy recommendations <
http://www.who.int/hrh/retention/guidelines/en/index.html> for increasing
access to health workers through improved retention in remote and rural
areas.

Dr. Dolea emphasizes that countries should consider the recommendations
"within the overall development of the national human resources for health
plan." Following analysis of the current situation and needs, policy-makers
can "come up with a priority list of interventions that are most appropriate
for the country context and situation."
