Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual
and Transgender Persons
The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) works
according to directives of the Swedish Parliament and Government to reduce
poverty in the world. The overall goal of Swedish development cooperation is
to contribute to making it possible for poor people to improve their living
conditions. Sida is organised in nine departments.
Sida is conducting a three-week course on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and
Transgender Persons (LGBT) and Human Rights.
The first part of the programme will take place in Stockholm, Sweden, from
17 October to 4 November 2011. The second part will take place in Africa
region from 21-25 May 2012.
The programme purpose of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Persons
(LGBT) and Human Rights training programme is that participants after the
programme should have useful tools and perspectives for working for LGBT
persons’ human rights.
The programme is designed for participants working in organisations or
sectors giving them an influence on issues concerning LGBT and human rights.
Applicants should have plans for, or ongoing, projects aiming at enhancing
the human rights for LGBT persons in their respective country.
The course is open only to applicants from Botswana, Cameroon, Ethiopia,
Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania,
Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
The application deadline is 8 April 2011.
