*The Issue*

Despite having signed and ratified WHO FCTC in 2004, Indian government if
sponsoring a global tobacco trade meet to be held in Bangalore, India in Oct
2010. This meet is restricted to industry representatives and set to discuss
how tobacco trade can be expanded and how existing tobacco control policies
can be undermined. Tobacco will cause one million deaths in 2010 in India
