Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to introduce the *HRBA Practitioner’s Portal *now available
online at:

www.hrbaportal.org

During the last decade, the United Nations and other actors including
bilateral partners and civil society have accumulated a wide range of
knowledge and experience in applying a Human Rights-Based Approach (HRBA) in
development programming.

The Practitioner’s Portal brings together this knowledge, practical
experience and a wide range of resources on integrating HRBA in development
programming, making them accessible in a single online space (
www.hrbaportal.org). By providing the user with a convenient ‘one-stop shop’
on HRBA, the Practitioner’s Portal aims to support and encourage each human
rights practitioner working to apply a HRBA in his or her work with easily
accessible experience, knowledge and resources.

It provides easy access to information through a resource database where
users can either browse through or search for specific resources such as
relevant international standards, ‘how-to guides’, case-studies and learning
materials on HRBA. All resources are accessible through various entry points
including topics (19 thematic areas covered), region, resource type and/or
phase of programming cycle. Users can also bookmark, comment on, share and
rate resources.

The UN Human Rights Policy Network (HuriTALK) Corner provides examples of
practical experiences and lessons-learned shared by members. Practitioner
may search for archived consolidated replies and e-discussions in this
password-protected section of the Portal, alongside other knowledge products
developed by the network.

The site is a work in progress and will be continuously updated and
improved. We will be grateful for any comments that you may have on how to
best improve the Portal. To do so, or for general information please write
to Sarah Rattray, the HuriTALK facilitator, at sarah.rattray at undp.org

The Practitioner’s Portal has been funded by the Action 2 Interagency Global
Programme on Strengthening Human Rights. We invite you to kindly forward
information about the Portal to colleagues who are interested in learning
more about human rights and applying a HRBA in development programming.
