*Right to Health and Health Care Campaign - 2009-2010 plan:*
*I. Country/regional level campaign activities:*
· Expansion to more countries: Uganda, Mali, Morocco, Kenya, Djibouti,
Senegal, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Philippines, Egypt,
Palestine, Lebanon, Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Colombia, USA, Canada, Mexico,
Ecuador. One country in Europe? (to 2010)
· Need for a Steering Committee member (or newly appointed staff) to
go to help the new circles organize and launch the campaign? (end 2009)
· Support national workshops to present assessment results: all
participating countries. (ongoing till 2010)
· First regional meetings (funding-dependent):
1. West, Central and North (francophone) Africa (before August 2010)
2. East and Southern Africa? (before December 2010?)
3. South Asia? (?)
4. Latinamerica? (before December 2010?)
*II. Global coordination and inputs, alliance building:*
· Need to form a global campaign and secretariat and
secretariat-support-team (existing core group + a few others). (before
December 2009)
· Hiring of one staff for the campaign: (try to get an IPHU graduate).
Funding? (by December 2009?)
· Appointment of regional campaign coordinators in all regoins. (before
June 2010)
· Setting up of a campaign data base. (by June 2009)
· Alliances: with Health Unlimited, Oxfam, Medecins du Monde, Plan
International, FIAN, Raoul Wallenberg Institute, Oxfam/NOVIB, Medico
International, CARE, PADHRE, Action Aid … (ongoing through 2010)
· Negotiation with new partner NGOs on how they can help launch the
campaign in countries they work in. Discuss coordination issues and possible
funding. (ongoing during 2009 and 2010)
· Interfacing with UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Health. (all
along)
· Preparation and dissemination of a proposed text for a World Health
Assembly Resolution on the Right to Health and Health Care (by December 2009
For WHA 2010??)
· Linkage with and presence in international events on human rights,
right to health and universal access to health care. (ongoing)
*III. Communications, publications, public reporting:*
· Periodic reports on the campaign. Jan, May, Sept each year.
· Further translations of the RTH Assessment Guide. (ongoing)
· Review campaign page(s) in the PHM website. Devise ways campaign
implementers can interact with the website and contribute to their own
country pages. (start September 2009 then ongoing)
· Develop and print a campaign brochure? (by December 2009?)
· Encourage campaign implementers to use phm-exchange. (ongoing)
*IV Linkage with other PHM activities and bodies: *
· Revise HR/RTH module of IPHU. (by IPHUs in 2010)
· Campaign implementers to be selected to attend future IPHUs. (from
Morocco IPHU on)
· Campaign workshop during PHA3. (2010)
· Steering Committee members to visit countries with an ongoing
campaign. (ongoing as possible combining with their planned trips)
*V. Funding for global and country level activities:*
· Fund raising: from different organizations (ongoing)
· Reporting to our current funders. (March and December 2009)
· Insisting on narrative and financial campaign reports from country
PHM circles to the global and campaign secretariat. (ongoing)
· National level campaign fundraising and addition of volunteer human
resources, as well as new local NGOs willing to join. (2009-10)
