 The 8th session of the Human Rights Council held in Geneva, during 2 - 18
June 2008. adopted candidates for a number of Special Procedure Mandate
Holders.

The Human Rights Commission appointed Mr. ANAND GROVER (India), as
the Special Rapporteur on the right of everyone to the enjoyment of
the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health.

The Special Rapporteur on the `Health and Human Rights' is expected to
examine ways and means to overcome obstacles impeding the full and
effective enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of physical and
mental health.

The Rapporteurs work involves visits to governments and the
dissemination of information on the legal framework and aspects of the
mandate designed to explain the complexity of efforts necessary to
promote highest attainable standard of physical and mental health.
