 The *Awards for Action on HIV/AIDS and Human Rights* — jointly awarded by
the Canadian HIV/AIDS Legal Network and Human Rights Watch — recognize
excellence and long-term commitment to work having a direct impact on
HIV/AIDS and human rights issues, in particular work that is of direct
relevance to marginalized individuals and communities.  An award is
presented annually to one Canadian and one international recipient.



This year, the Canadian winner will be announced at the Legal Network's
annual general meeting in Ottawa on June 16, while the international winner
will be announced at the XVII International AIDS Conference in Mexico City
in August.



Nominations are invited both for individuals and organizations working at
the community level and for those operating at national and international
levels.  Nominations may be submitted in English, French, Spanish or
Russian.



Canadian recipient nominations must be received before *5 p.m. EDT on
Friday, May 9, 2008*. International recipient nominations must be received
before *5 p.m. on Friday, June 27, 2008*.

 Les *Prix de l'Action contre le VIH/sida et pour les droits humains* —
décernés conjointement par le Réseau juridique canadien VIH/sida et Human
Rights Watch — visent à reconnaître l'excellence et l'engagement à long
terme à un travail qui a un impact direct sur la problématique du VIH/sida
et des droits humains — en particulier à un travail qui présente une
pertinence directe pour les communautés et individus marginalisés. Un prix
est présenté annuellement à un récipiendaire canadien et à un récipiendaire
international.



Cette année, le récipiendaire canadien sera annoncé à l'assemblée générale
annuelle du Réseau juridique à Ottawa, le 16 juin 2008; et le récipiendaire
international sera annoncé lors du XVIIe Congrès international sur le sida à
Mexico, en août 2008.



On accepte la candidature de tout individu ou organisme œuvrant au palier
communautaire, national ou international. Les candidatures peuvent être
présentées en français, en anglais, en espagnol ou en russe.



Les mises en candidature pour le Prix canadien devront être reçues au plus
tard le *vendredi 9 mai 2008 à 17 h 00 (H.E.)*; et celles pour le Prix
international devront être reçues au plus tard le *vendredi 27 juin 2008 à
17 h 00 (H.E.)*.

Los *Premios para la Acción en VIH/SIDA y Derechos Humanos* – entregados por
la Red Legal Canadiense de VIH/SIDA y Human Rights Watch – reconocen la
excelencia y el compromiso a largo plazo del trabajo que tiene un impacto
directo en temas de VIH/SIDA y derechos humanos, particularmente aquel que
sea relevante para las personas y comunidades marginadas. Se entregarán dos
premios anualmente, uno a un beneficiario canadiense y otro a un
beneficiario internacional.



Este año, el ganador canadiense será anunciado en la apertura de la reunión
anual de la Red Legal Canadiense de VIH/SIDA a celebrarse en Ottawa el 16 de

comunitario como aquellas que lo hagan a nivel nacional o internacional. Se
pueden enviar las nominaciones en inglés, francés, español o ruso.



La fecha límite para presentar las nominaciones de los candidatos
canadienses será el viernes 9 de mayo del 2008 a las 5:00 p.m. hora del Este
(ET). La fecha límite para presentar las nominaciones de los candidatos
internacionales será el viernes 27 de junio del 2008 a las 5:00 p.m. hora
del Este (ET).
