PPEHRC Leaders Stand Trial on False Charges For Arrests While Protesting For the Human Right to Housing for Hurricane Katrina Survivors in New Orleans

Tomorrow in New Orleans, two PPEHRC leaders will stand trial on false charges stemming from their arrests fighting the demolition of public housing in New Orleans last December.

Cheri Honkala, National Coordinator of the PPEHRC, will stand trial for false charges of impersonating a police officer, while PPEHRC leader JR Flemming (an organizer with the Chicago Coalition to Protect Public Housing) faces false charges of drug possession.

Both were arrested in December 2007 while trying to stop the demolition of thousands of units of public housing in New Orleans.

Please stay tuned for updates on their cases.
