This day, the French nation is in mourning over the death of Abbé Pierre.
Founder of Emmaus, Abbé Pierre was an old friend of our PHM founder Zaffruhla 
Chowdury and an initial supporter of GK.
He is like the grand dad of us all, the ever living light of all movements for 
social justice.
Last year, upon the news that a homeless lady died of the cold, he launched an 
appeal to all French people to put a light in a 
window, a light saying: here is a home and love and understanding for anyone 
in this world who is cold, hungry, lonely, homeless...
He was ever NON COMPROMISING, he thought that to seek to gather support and 
respect from the VIP may be counter to the need to 
serve the people. While he did not play as great a role as Gandhi in India, 
his personal attitude in his life long fight for 
justice was the same: work for the people, keep your soul free, don't try to 
please, try to do as much as you can to improve the 
human condition.
He will remain the inspiring figure for  all of us at PHM
