The Post-Graduate Law Student's Association of Melbourne University Law
School is hosting a public seminar entitled:

"Is the World Trade Organization detrimental to health?"

Speakers: Jurgen Kurtz (WTO overview), David Legge (TRIPS), Tania Voon
(GATT and GATS), Jacqueline Peel (SPS), David Morgan (Govt experience)and
Clancy Kelly (Right to health) (Chair).

Description: In this discussion academics from the Melbourne Law School
and La Trobe University will examine the impact on health of World Trade
Organization law. This will include analyses of the origin and development
of WTO and major WTO greements, the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of
Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS), the General Agreement on Trade in
Services (GATS), and Sanitary and Phytosanitary Agreement (SPS). The
discussion reflects the increasing concern with WTO's impact on health and
human rights.
