Sahara Samay T.V. news channel, in a series of sting operations, showed doctors from Rajasthan, Gujarat, M.P. & U.P. readily agreeing to do foetal sex detection and perform sex selective termination of pregnancy. In most of the incidents, the doctors have also violated the MTP Act by agreeing to abort foetuses beyond the stipulated time period. So far sting operations of 100 (61 doctors are from Rajasthan) doctors have been aired out of which most of the doctors had been caught violating the PCPNDT and MTP Act. The Govt. of Rajasthan suspended some of erring govt. doctors and sealed some of the private clinics and nursing homes. However, it has not begun any prosecution activities by filing cases against them in the court of law under PC&PNDT Act and unless this is being done no actual punishment would be possible.

Soon after the sting operations were shown, the strong doctors lobby of Rajasthan under the aegis of state IMA openly issued statement against the journalist and the news channel. It demanded that Govt. put ban on sting
operations. One of the doctors has filed a case of blackmail against the T.V.journalist.
