The statement you send Human Rights and World Trade Organization was wrong on several accounts. The worst enemy of developing counties is neoliberalism which means the complete elimination of protectionism. It is completely inaccurate to say that if "All global trade barriers to poor countries is eliminated, 500 million people could be lifted out of hunger". It is an illusion to think that the problems of underdevelopment are due to trade barriers. Poor countries need protectionism as the air they breath, in the developed countries, the ones who suffer most from free trade are the unskilled working classes. The roots of poverty and exploitation are based on the power relations in that country, rather than on the world trade. At the risk of sounding as a salesman, I suggest you read the collection The Political Economy of Social Inequalities that I put together.
Best,

Vicente
